The Desert Express has been winding through the beautiful Namib Desert since April 1998. It was designed and built by Namibia's leading engineers and designers, using the most modern technology and equipment available. For more information Click Here Rovos Rail Rovos Rails coaches are from the 1920's and 30's, the Pride of Africa, and are now owned by Mr Rohan Vos who has had them restored and refurnished with a touch of exquisite style and comfort. First class service is offered resulting in a 5 Star Hotel on rails. The use of the traditional furnishings and period décor, with top class craftsmanship evident in fine wood paneling, has ensured that the atmosphere of elegance and grandeur far exceeds the original. Each train has two lounge cars, one a unique glass ended observation car and two dining cars a 1920s period piece with romantic teak pillars and a more modern 1936 model one with traditional picture windows offering guests a panoramic view of the passing African landscape. The sleeper coaches are the last word in luxury. Each suite accommodates two people with the option of twin or double beds, with a private lounge area.
